Here are six movies that are going to make you hate being single.
Poetic Justice (1993)
In this movie, a hairdresser named Justice writes poetry to help her deal with the pain of a loss. The hairdresser is played by the well-known actress Janet Jackson. The hairdresser has car troubles which creates an obstacle for her. She had planned to head to Oakland for a convention, she now needed a new form of transportation. Iesha (Regina King) offers Justice a lift with her postal worker boyfriend Chicago (Joe Torry). Accompanied by Lucky (Tupac Shakur) Chicago's co-worker. The audience watches the shenanigans that the group goes through and how closely the characters interact with each other.
Jason’s Lyric (1994)
This movie portrays the reality of a world filled with violence, it narrows in on a drug-infested neighborhood in Houston. Jason (Allen Payne) has a dream of leaving this area and achieving great things. Jason helps his mother financially by working as a TV salesman. Jason has a brother named Joshua (Bokeem Woodbine). Throughout the movie, Jason tries to steer his brother away from the horrors of their neighborhood. Although Jason has been living a rough life it somehow becomes better once he meets Lyric (Jada Pinkett). The movie shows the characters' vulnerability as they’re faced with the harsh reality of their lives.
Love & Basketball (2000)
The two main characters in this movie are Monica (Sanaa Lathan) and Quincy (Omar Epps). They are childhood friends who both share the dream of becoming professional basketball players. They’re both very competitive and have an emotional attachment to basketball. The audience observes the characters grow up and see their romance’s ups and downs.
The Notebook (2004)
This movie is set in the1940s in Southern Carolina. Noah Calhoun (Ryan Gosling) and Allie (Rachel McAdams) are madly in love. As a couple, they receive criticism from Allie’s family. Their relationship comes to a halt when Noah goes off to serve in World War II. In the absence of Noah, Allie starts a relationship with a man (James Marsden). Once Noah returns after serving in the war he sees that Allie has moved on with another person and is married.
Everything, Everything (2017)
This movie shows the life of a teenager named Maddy (Amandla Stenberg) which is bound to her house because of her illness. Although she is stuck in her home the audience learns maybe not for the right reasons. When Maddy meets a boy named Olly (Nick Robinson) who is the new boy next door, her life becomes very riveting. Maddy and Olly engage in a complex relationship that leads them to take big risks together no matter the consequences.
In conclusion, these movies all have one thing in common which is romance. These selections of movies range from 90s hits to late 2010s. I personally enjoyed all of these movies and I would definitely recommend that you give at least one of these a watch.
